Review your chest count, current hero catalog, and any available selection options.
Choose an opening mode
Use the available random or directed option shown by the game. If a hero choice is required, select an eligible hero.
Review every award
The result shows the hero, fragments received, whether a hero was unlocked, and whether any excess fragments were converted.
Fated and featured heroes
The Hero Chest catalog can highlight a Fated VIP Hero and a currently featured VIP hero. Your Fated selection is the hero you want the chest system to focus on when that option applies. Availability can change as a city grows and new Hero Eras begin.
Universal fragments
If fragments can no longer be applied normally, the chest result may convert them into universal fragment resources. Standard and VIP hero progression use their matching universal fragment types.
Chest planning tips
- Check the hero catalog before opening a large group of chests.
- Choose a Fated hero that supports a roster gap or your current Ascension goal.
- Review whether a hero is available in your city’s current era.
- After opening, visit Heroes to confirm unlocks and Ascension readiness.
Chest opening modes
| Mode | How rewards are directed | Use when |

| Standard | Distributes the normal fragment award across eligible heroes | You are building the roster broadly |
| Focused | Directs the choice toward an eligible selected hero | A specific unlock or Ascension is the priority |
| Fated VIP | Keeps normal fragments and adds a separate chance for the selected VIP hero | You understand the shown odds and want that VIP target |
Read the confirmation and result
Before opening, verify quantity, mode, eligible hero, city-era availability, and any displayed featured or Fated odds. After opening, the result groups awards by hero and updates universal or VIP fragment balances where applicable.
In Fated VIP mode, the selected VIP chance is an additional roll. Read the live confirmation because eligibility and featured status can change with the catalog.
